South. Being very hilly much work
counted for litle, and that little
liable to be destroyed by the®next
freshet.
Three years ago the road queft-
tlot* was solved by the Legislature.
A chain gang was established to
build two miles of ideal road on

county seat. This benefits all of
the people.
A five mill tax was levied to
construct an automobile boulevard
through the county. Twenty miles
of this has been completed. It is

lias oely one slight hill, and not a

The results of the primary elec
tion yesterday are the the primary
election of Col. John P. Grace as
mayor with & plurality of 194 votes
aver MaJ. T. T. Hyde and a major
ity over both MaJ. Hyd« and Mr.
Hughes of 8& votes. The support
ers of Col Grace were generally
elected on both the bogj-d of al
dermen and school commissioners.
Surprises came also In many of
the other contests at the polls. The
vote in the mayore-lty race which
overshadowed all other contests led
by a substantial excess over the
mldermr.tlc ticket.
Unquestionably the issue of th >
campaign was the Consolidated com
pany, which had been promlnet*Lly
featured by Col. Grace r-nd his
speakers. The attack which was
made upon the administrations also
served to attr&ct its opponents to
Col. Grr-ce's Standard.
