? The State Farmers Union haa pvt
itaelf on record as being ol«b of
tbo moat progreaslra bodies of men
in this State. At tbeir meeting
in Columbia last week they declared
themaelves to be in favor of soai<t
measures which the legislature haa
haggled over for several sessions,
too timid to pass them. One Is
the hunter’s license, the other is
n compulsory education "law. The) 1
have thus shown themselves su
perior to the petty motives which
have actuated 'the opponents of
compulsory education.
If they keep up tbe attitude the
Farmers Union will become one of
the vital forces In our state. Be
ing a non-political body; uninfluecc
ed by those who are seeking office
by those who are seeking once It
can make demands for progressive
legislation which could not be a-
chleved if we had to wait for the
sentiments of the people and then
timorously make the advance. If
the- Union maintains its indeipend-
ence of politicians, sod continues
to use Its Influence wisely as it
has begun, it is destined to become
s great force In our state.

If you are well known at the bank, through your bank

6. Every check you write ia an advertisement of your good

raising you in the general esteem of your neighbors.
Any one of the above reasons is of itself sufficient to in
