January was a record breaker for

department of the paper. We did
mote advertising, more job printing,
more subscription business than
ever before in the history of the
paper. Friends help us to keep up
the good work.
A newspaper is a business enter
prise, but also a public servant, in a
curtain sews. There is; however, no
business enterprise which does more
for a community than a good live
newspaper. It should have the sup
port of all persons.^n its territory
especially, in every way.
We are especially gratified at the

on the chain gangs throughout the
State, and do away with the lease
system and the State farms. Where
% we need convict labor is on the
roads throughout the State and not

making socks, cotton and corn. We

Mrs. Clarence Hio*.t of Green
Pond visited Mrs. W. O. Moore last
week, Mr. and Mrs. Moore have
ceme to live here now. as Mr. Moore
is to take charge of the logging
engine for Hacker Manufacturing
Co. We are glad to welcome them.
Mrs Lawton Bishop of this place
died last week and was buried on
Tuesday.
Mrs. Raymond Ehrhardt was visit
ed last week by the stork, leaving
with them a tine girl, much to the
pleasure of her parents.
We are glad to note that J. E.
Folk, who has been in ill health for
the past three years is gradually im- f
proving.
