At the beautiful and hoaptiable
home of Mr and Mrs Jas E Peurifoy
about two dozen of their friends
were invited last Friday evening to
enjoy a few hours with them by in
dulging in a series of interesting
pastimes. The first to claim the at
tention of the guests was a donkey
oarty which created much mirth and
merriment. The contest was fai»t!
and furious and there were so many i
good guesses made that it was finally \
decided that the best plan would be
to send out a committee to decide
the exact place this caudal append
age belonged. The matter ta still in
statu quo. After the merriment of
this contest had subsided to • cer
tain extent another very novel form,
of entertainment!'was Indulged in.
which consisted of the hiding around
the spacious parlors sKpa of paper
on which were written pieces of
tenees. To Mrs W E Frager
awarded the prise, she having found
the greatest number of eounceted
sentences. Mean. I M FMkburae
and G C Padgett delighted the
guests with a number of aotoa, both
vocal and instrumental, after which
delicious refreshments were served
consisting of chicken mlad, olive
eandwichea and hot coffee, followed
by punch and Lady Baltimore cake.
Towards the close of the evening
quite a number of advertiamenta
clipped from the leading magazines
were brought forth and in this Mr
Joseph M Moorer came out with the
honors, having cut for the prize
with Misses Florrie Williams and

Magistrate J. M. Padgett of
Jaeksonboro has tended his resigna
tion as magistrate.
Mr. Padgett's reason for this

DELEGATION IN COLUMBIA.
The Colleton delegation were all
at their posts of duty last Tuesday
when the legislature began its ses
sion. They are all new new. except
Mr. Smith who served last year and
a previous term. Mr. Hill was also
legislator for several terms some
years ago.
Owing to an adjournment from
Saturday to Monday night all the
members of fhe Colleton delegation
availed themselves of this opportun
ity to spend Sunday at their homes.
They returned to Columbia Monday
in time to be present at the evening
session. Mr. Smith wa* seen by a
representative of The Press and
Standard, and asked what the dele
gation is doing. He stated that no
