Mr. B. 0* Benton, an old Con
federate soldier, died at his home
near Penial Tuesday morning at one
Vdock. after an illness of several
months. Mr. Benton war 76 years
ol age. aftd was one of the best
,known and roost loved of the citi>
sens of Cdleton county. He was a
/armer, and had done a'ell.
Mr. Beaton had celebrated hit76th
. birthday ^pat Saturday, and in honor
of the occasion all his childien were
at home, and they had a big dinner.
It was ndLfearid that Mr. Benton
would te il. for any k-ngth of time,
but he grew worse a few da> s ago,
and the. end came early Tut ay
morning.
The funeral will be held this morn
ing at 11 o'clock at his late residence,
after which the interment will be
