DEATH OF A. UTILE GIRL
On the morning of December 11th
the death angel entered the home of
Mr and Mrs J C Harrison of Ashton
and took ^their darling little girl,
Kathleen, from them. She was only
a few months old but a sweet and
bright child, and it was haj^to give
her up, but the Almighty took her
away to live with Him in his shining
kingdom and with his holy ahgels.
Her remains were taken to Doctors
Creek Monday for burial. She
leaves a heartbroken mother and
father and one brother, besides a
host of relatives and friends to
mourn their loes. Sleep on dear
Kathleen, the day will soon come
when the dear angels will come to
take us home with thee forever.
Her Aunt. Wilma Breland.

DEATH OF G R. E. LINDER.
• On November 3th. the death
angel entered the home of Mrs
Elizabeth Linder and claimed for
its victim her dearly beloved hus
band, George Linder. He had been
confined to his bed two years, and
all was done for him that loving
hands and kind hearts could do but
to no avail. He leaves a broken
hearted wife and five daughthers
and five sons, besides a host or rel
atives and friends to mourn their
loss.
The funeral services were held in
the Mt. Carmel church by the
pastor. Rev. J E Rushton. The
bereaved family have our deepest
sympathy.
Sleep on dear Uncle Ceorge,
And take thy rest.
We loved thee well.
But God loved thee best.
A loved one from us has gone
A voice we loved is stilled
A place is vacant in our home
That never can be filled.
His Devoted Niece.
DEATH OF MRS HENRIETTA
GRIFFIN.
Mrs Henrietta D Griffin died at
her home at Sandy Dam Monday,
December Pith at t> o’clock. She
was 70 years old and was sick seven
months. All was done for her that
loving hands and medical skill could
do, but to no avail. She is survived
by two children. M V Griffin of
Sandy Dam and Walter Griffin of
Florida, one brother. L R Hioit of
Walterboro, and two sisters. Mrs
Willie Griffin of Sandy Dam ond Mrs
Lizzie Halford of Stokes.
She was a devoted mother and
loved by all who knew her. but God
loved her best.
Farewell, Aunt, but not forever,
There will be a glorious dawn
We shall meet to part no never,
Oh the Reseurrection morn.
Tho thy darling form lies sleeping
In thy cold and silent tomb.
Thou shalt have a glorious awaken
ing
When the blessed Lord doth come.

ECHOES FROM SMOAKS.
As the Yule tide draws nigh, we
find the children happy over the
anticipation of good old Santa’s an
nual visit,, and the older ones glad
to see their merry faces light up
with pleasure at mentioning even
the name of the dear old saint.
The merchants are looking for
ward to a busy time during the
Xmaa season.
Smoaks is on a boom; and the peo
ple here love their dear old Colleton;
and are proud of living Colletonians.
The Sunday Schools are progress
ing well with the faithful few who
attend. Parenta should take a great
interest in the spiritual welfare "of
their children, and see that they at-
ten4 Sunday School regularly.
The day school here is progres
sing nicely, and we hope to have a
successful term.
