Little Mountain, Nov. 25. Kid-

body of Flute Clarke, a negro, to
night lies on the south side of^Little
Mountain, mute evidence of the
suddenly aroused wrath of a mob of
nearly 1 im»o Lexington and New
berry citizens maddened by the
murder of the li-year-o’d daughter
of a prominent farmer of this >ee-

ear, and her bleeding body was

When the alarm was given the
Lexington sheriff sent the blood
hounds from the county chaingang
in charge of Capt. Fete Mack. M.
M. Buford, sheriff of Newberry,
also hastened to the spot.
Upon arrival at the scene the dogs
at once took up the trail and carried
it to a field, where the negro had
been plowing. Here they stopped
and the chase was given up.

One of-the best of the many
fairs held in South Carolina this
year was that of Colleton county.!
