The following report of the
Farmer’s Union banking committee
has been banded ibis paper for pub
lication. This report waa read at the
county meeting Saturday:

Co-operative Union of Colleton
County:
Your committee appointed July 2.
1910, to organize and establish a
banking inatitution, begs leave to
report:
1 1. Although delayed by bad
weather and failure to get material
on time, we have performed the
work assigned us and take pleasure
in announcing that the bank opened
this morning for business in its
handsome new building on v Main
Street opposite the Court House
square. ,
2. We have constructed a brick j
building, an 1 in it a vault which
is absolutely proof agaiftst tire. W'e
have purchased a Mosler Manganese
steel safe with screw d^or and triple
Yale-Time lock, which 'fit guaran
teed against any successful attempt
by burglars. Uur vault door is of
the best sted ami is fastened with

twelve steel bolts. Our fixtures are |
of marble with mahogany finish and
• oxydized copper grille. The th>or\>f ’
the lobby is of the finest tile and the
ceilfog of the best grade of metal.
We thought it advisable to put up
such a building with such fixtures
and furnishings as will be a credit
to the union and of which our mem-

to be.kept on hand, together with
many other salutary provisions of
the law, make the National Banking
system as safe as it is possible for
such institutions to be. We might
add that the First National Bank
has deposited in the United States
treasury the necessary bonds to se
cure its depositors, and has complied
with all the other requirements of
the law.

tal of 125,000.000 would be sufficient

JOHN ROBINSONS CIRCUS COMING
John Robinson will bring his cir-
c us here October 25th, which news
will be gladly received by the small
boy throughout the county. This
circus will be held at the Fair
grounds, at which time Assistant
Superintendent Hiers hopes to have
the buildings completed, in order
that those who attend the circus
may see what the Eair Association
has prepared for the Fair to be held
a few days later.
