The offer ! was promptly accented by the I veterans, and the Fair authori ties have invited the Hon. D. S. Henderson of Aiken and Col. James Armstrong of Charleston, to be present on that occcswn and make addresses and they have accepted the invitations. The Fair and veieran’s commit tees have had several meetings recently to discuss th£ program, which will be developed later at further meetings. The surviv ing members of the monument committee are composed of C. G. Henderson, G. W. Way, and L. R. Hiott. And the committee has recently added to its num ber F. O. S. Curtis, M. P. How ell and and D. B.‘ Peiirifoy. We are requested by this committee to ask all persons who have sub scribed . to this fund, either through our county papers, or at meetings addressed by Dr. Black and others, to make payment of the same on or before the fif teenth of October next, either to W. W. Smoak, editor of The Press and Standard, or to C. G. This is one of the handsomest stores in town and quite an addition to this part at the town. It is a one story brick build ing and is next door to the First National Bank. Mr. Maxey knowing the dangerous character of these negroes, appointed several deputies to help make the arrest, among these Wing Dr. Kinsey. They arrested the wife and Freeman ajqtaring from behind a clump of hushes, shot into the crowd; the load striking Dr. Kinsey.,.-) posse formed and hunted the woods for sometime to rapture Freeman but he escaped and had not been heard of until he was ar rested in Aiken Friday.
