The Civic League knows how to make candy as well as to plant trees. - Opposite this booth, lured by the strains of a graphophone, the crowd stopped for a grab at the "grab bag’’ and to buy "something for nothing" from the well selected stock of the 1ft cents store. ' \ During the evening ice cream was on sale at the lower end of the» hall until the orchestra stepped in and led the merry crowd to '"trip the light fantastic” until a late "home sweet home.” * The bazaar was voted by its many patrons a ”big success.” They rea lized a net profit of $57.00. On,Friday afternoon last the doors of Hyrne’s.hall were opened by the Civic League, and a waiting crowd entered the hall to attend one of the best and most successful bazaars that Walterboro has ever seen. Among the most attractive fea tures of the bazaar most be noted "Fair Japan," in which throe fasci- nstinr maidens from the orient as sisted Miss Klein in exhibkirur the profiles of the honorary^ members of the Civic League. To Dr. Riddick Ackerman was given the vote for the handsomest head, and Mrs. M. C. Fishburne won the prize for guess ing the largest number of profiles. Attracted by the excellent work of deft and artistic fingers, here several of the originals were found many times during the evening gazing ad miringly at their respective silhou ettes.
