This State a> weil as other States that have not pa^-ed the Optometry Ia«w, to protect the public are now infested with scores of traveling ofe ticlans, who offer to sell five dollar Jtold eye ^lassos for ore dollar. These fakirs either peiidle from house to house or open up in stores in ore city or town after another, generally remaining in a place from one day to four weeks. Big signs and hand bills announc ing the Bargains in eye glasses and spectacles draw crowds. The trick a.-, described is to tell each customer that his case is a little peculiar or' different from the ordinary so as to; require ‘specially ground’ lense, in- ! stead of the five dollar glasses for - one dollar. By this deception, the fake optician succeeds in getting ex- orbitan prices often from $H* to $25, a id you get no satisfa -tion for your <a-h. When he finds a town getting, too unfriendly to him Itecause of the Complaints of dissatisfied cust<»mers. the traveling optician closes his store over night, takes away every thing of value anti often leav«*s a lot of un- j paid local bills ami goes to the next * stopping place, where he begins all over again under a new name. Twenty-six States of the Union! have already passed the Optometry law. including North Carolina and o Florida on each aide of us. there fore the people of this State are an easy mark for at raveling fake. It is to be hojusi that at the next meeting; | of our law makers they will .protect the innocent public fromj such imposition. If such a law isj g ><*T for so many other Stairs why would it not be good for the grand Old State of South Carolina. DOTS FROM HIOTTVILLE Hiottville. Cleveland, O. “My little daughter who was afflicted with St. Vitus’ Dance is now entirely well after taking Dr. Miles’ Nervine only four months.” MRS. C. G. BENNETT, Alma, Mich. Epilepsy, Fits, St. Vitus’ Dance and Spasms, are all nerv ous diseases. They have been cured in so many instances with Dr. Miles’ Nervine that it is reasonable to conclude that it is almost sure to cure you. With nervous diseases of a severe type, persistent use has almost invariably resulted in a complete cure or lasting benefits, worth many times the cost of the rem edy. Tbe best evidence you can get of its merits is to write to those who have used it. Get a bottle from your druggist. Take h all according to directions, and if it does not benefit he will re turn your money, * 1 3 . 1 •i»
