The house was well filled with
people, and they all seemed to enjoy
it. . It was beautifully decorated
with Christmas ferns, festooning
mottoes and bells.
The troatyuw beautifully trimmed
in ChristmtA^rnamenK, and fillfd
with precious gifts for the loved
ones. Space will not permit me to
mention the many gifts distriouted.
We had free fruit to distribute
throughout the crowd of which they
all part )ok heat tilty.
The following programe was oar-,
ried out very nicely. •
Song. Joy Bolls, by Choir.
Bible reading and prayer, by Rev.
G; A. Martin. *
Song, Gospel Bells.
Address. How we should celebrate
Christmas by Professor Henry
Strickland.
Song. Holy Holy Holy.
Distribution of fruit and presents,
by committee.
Benediction, by Rev. Martin.
Mr. Strickland touched on the evil
manner in which we celebrate Christ
mas, by drinking and carousing,
and the writer wishes to congratu
late Mr. Strickland on his success.
6 Our tree was well carried out, and
in spite of the large crowd every
thing was very quiet.
A very nice tree was had at Lodge,
at 7 o’clock tonight, which was a
successful event.
Christmas is very quiet in this sec
tion. Nothing out of the way has
been reported yet, and we trust that
it will continue to be quiet.

THOMAS W- UNDER.
Thomas W. Linder was born at a
place known as Linder Hill, Round
O. Colleton County May 8th 1867 and
died in Samnnah, Nov. 27th 1909.
He moved to Savannah a good many
years ago, through a stranger in
that popular City he soon ma^Ie many
friends by his manly manners ami by
his upright dealings with his fellow
man. He was the eldest son of Mr.
ami Mrs. A. J. Linder and was ever
a dutiful child. He united with the
M. E. Church while quite a boy and
from that day until his death he was
loyal to its cause. He was prompt
in attendance, diligent in service,
and always ready to respond to its
various calls. He married the
daughter of Capt. D. S. Cannady.
who was sheriff one term during the
Civil War. We deeply sympathize
with the bereaved, especially his
aged parents, wife and children of
which there were five, throe girls
and two boys. He was laid to rest
on the 20th of November at the Old
Island Creek Cemetery in the pres
ence of many sorrowing relatives
and friends. His funeral wag
preached at his late residence in
Savannah, but by the request of hit
relatives Rev. E. D. Craven held#*
short service at the grave, very ap
propriate to the occasion.
