DEATH Of S M CROSBY
Mr. S. M. Crosby of WaltA*boro
died at his late residence here at 2
o'ctock Monday morning, aged fifty-
one yean*. He had been confined
to his bed for about a month, but
the immediate cause of Jiis death
! was heart failure. He suffered in
tensely during his last illness, and
had expressed wish that he might
die easy, so when his end came he
passed away as if only going to
sleeo.
For twenty-five years Mr. Crosby
had charge of the mercantile busi
ness on Col. H. Bischoff’s place at
Jacksonhoro, but about three years
ago, on account of ill health, was

The recent acquisition of new
Song-books is having notieable effect
upon the singing. Some of our
older friends who were ?ust about
convinced that their singing days
were over may be observed now tak
ing out t teir glasses and helping to
swell the chorus. The little folks
too look happy.
One thing to be noted is the en
thusiasm on the fart of the members.
The secret is this School is becoming
awakened to the great advadtage to
be gained in the adoption of Modern
Sunday School Methods. The fol
lowing Departments have been or
are soon to be introduced into the
school: Cradle Roll, Home, Orga
nized Bible Class and Teacher Train
ings.
Great interest has been taken in
the recent organization of the Adult
Classes. " *
Sunday two weeks ago was the oc
casion of the organization of the
young ladies into a Philathea Class.
Twenty three names were enrolled
the first meeting. The class has
been accorded the privilege of hold
ing its meetings in the adjoining
parsonage the object of this being to
bring out the members in free and
informal discussion of the lesson, to
encourage Sociability of members
and to take up in a Systematic vari
ous lines of Church activity.
The class went into organization
by the adoption of a Class name, a
Constitution and the election of the
