DEATH OF A LITTLE GIRL
Died, at her home near Round,
yesterday afternoon about one i
o’clock Gladys Risher, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. T. R. Risher. aged
eleven years.
The sad news of little Gladys’
rather sudden death came wilha
shock to her friends, for 'in hau
been ill only a short while with
throat trouble, which wa.-' not con
sidered very serious, when she took
a sudden turn for the worse yester
day morning and died in a i-hort
while. She was a beautiful ehild
and the joy and comfort of her
home, and her childish brought sun
shine and happiness into the lives of]
the entire community.
Her remains were laid to rest in
the old Providence cemetery last
Wednesday.

1 attended the fair at Walterboro
and it was a good one. As Editor

was there in his glory. 1 will leave
the many interesting things we saw
there for him to tell.
From Walterboro I went to Cot-
tageville and spent Sunday. While
there I attended church and heard
an elegant sermon preached by an
Orangeburg county boy. Reverend
Inabinet. It was one of the best
sermons I've heard in months. So
you see our old county is just turn
ing out material for all departments
that equal the l>est. We dined with I
Mr. and Mrs. Allen Ackerman, and,
of course, came off with indigestion, i
hut find myself killing time near
Providence church, awaitingthehaie

riage of Miss I ^aura Smoak to Mr.
George Ackerman, t^’o very popu
lar young people of this section. I’ve
just left the church, got some of the
wedding crumbs for dinner. Will
now stop and take the future bride
out to service and get sorter steady
for the happening of tomorrow, and i
if I am not toe badly used up by Mrs. j
B. Easterling's good supper w ill try ,
and tell the rest after the feast.

On August 30, ’08, 1 contracted cold and developed Grippe and

houae saw mill and corn mill of G. T.
Thornley and brother was entirely
consumed by fire. These buildings
burned abqut midnight, the fire
