DEATH OF A CHILD.
The death angel visited our home
November 2nd, and bore sway our
second child. Carrie Bunch; age
eight years and nine months old.
She was a bright child-the joy of our
heartn.
Hc*r death wasi very sudden, but
we must bow in humble submission
to Him who doeth all things w’ell,
and who has said, suffer little child
ren to come unto me, for of such
the Kingdom of God.
She was laid to rest in the old
Hopewell church yard.
Farewell, dear Carrie, you are
sadly missed, but you have gone to
a better home than this, where we
hope to join you, and shall be no
more death, neither sorrow, nor cry
ing, for God shall wipe away all
tears from their eyes.

Josh Garvin killed two fine deer one
day last week. Guess if some of his

to express my appreiation and thanks
to the Press and Standard for the
favor bestowed by them to me. Tis
more than a pleasure to realize that
my feeble, though earnest efforts
have succeeded in winning your ap
probation, and shall continue to give

to your good work. 1 was delighted
to see such nice newsy letter from
Ruffin last week. 1 am always glad
t > hear from our little friend C M B
and wish to thank* her'also for her
thoughtfulness and good wishes, and
to assufeiftr that Ruffin still holds
that comer in her heart, and she too
will only be too glad to greet her
dear little friends of “Don’t Worry
Town” again.
I regretted very much to hear of
the serious accident happening to
Mr Robert Black some time past,
and hope ere this he is his jovial self
again.
I was quite sorry that for various
reasons the pleasures of Fair week in
Walterboro w as denied me; but my
best wishes were with you all for
jolly good time. , w
Mrs M F Dukes, who has been
seriously ill for two weeks, is s’owly
canvalescing.
Mrs T S Gelzer left here Monday
last to attend her cousin’s wedding
Miss Jo Hall of Manning. She will
accompany the bridal party to Char
leston.
Mr Felix Shuler of Vance, visited
our town Sunday.
One of the rarest treats the little
folks have enjoyed in quite awhile
was a donkey party given on Tues
day. by Mrs T S Gelzer. in honor
her eldest daughter Lieze’s twelfth
birthday. The lovely little home
presented a scene of much loliness
and gaiety, the amusement of the
evening being the pining of the don
key’s tail, which caused much laugh
ter. The first prize, a lb box o:
chocolates was presented to little
Miss Gertrude Kohn, by her teacher
Mrs Estella Herndon, and the booby
a pencil, to Margery Cross, by Miss
Singleterry. At ten o’clock the
children formed a line and to the
strains of “The Flower Song,” ren
dered by Miss Rena Wolfe; they
marched to the dining room, where
a delightful supper was served. The
birthday cake studded with candles
was then cut, and a search ensued
for the dime which had been hidden
in the cake; the successful one being
Fletcher Dukes Jr. Luze received
many pretty and useful presents,
showing her popularity among the
little folks.

GRIFFIN BRYAN.
A most beautiful marriage was
solemnized Sunday. November 14, at
the home of the bnde # parents, Mr.
and Mrs. E. B. Griffin. The con
tracting parties were Miss Irene
Griffin and Henry Bryan. The cere
mony was performed by Rev. C. W.
Burgess.
The home was beautifully decor
ated for the occasion.
The attendants entered in the fol
lowing order: Miss Sarah Bryan,
sister of the groom, with Mr. Johnnie
Padgett; Miss Blanche Griffin, sister
of the bride, with Mr. David Bryan,
brother of the groom; after them
came the bride and groom. The
bride was beautifully dressed in a
rich white silk, daintily trimmed
with white silk lace and ribbons.
The brides maids were handsomely
dressed in white.
There were about two hundred in
timate relatives and friends present
to witness the ceremony, which was
performed at six o’clock in the
afternoon. We all extend our
hearty congratulations and best
wishes to the happy young couple.
After the marriage some beauti
ful music was rendered by Mias
Florence Ulmer, also some beauti
ful singing was enjoyed by all.
