FULLER LOCAL ORGANIZED- A Farmers' Union local was orga nized Thursday afternoon Oct. 28 by organizer, W. W. Smoak, Jr., at {•Siller school house about seven miles from Walterhoro. There were enough members to secure a charter, and much enthusiasm w-as shown by all present. The officers for this union are as follows: C. C. Crosby P/esident; A. F. Fisk Vice-President; A. B. The following resolution of -tht- officers of the court and members of the Barnwell Bar has been unamin- ously adopted and published in the newspapers. © Whereas, the Honorable W. B. Gruber kindly consented to hold a: .special term of the Court Common 1 Pleas for this county, to aid the Court and litigants in relieving the congestion of the Calendars. And Whereas, the Governor, at the suggestion of the Chief Justice, having duly designated and appoint ed the said Hon. W. B. Gruber to hold said special term; and the ses sions of the same having been now completed, and great benefit having been accomplished thereby, and it being desirable to make some formal acknowledgement of the splendid services rendered by the prsiding officer— Now, on motion of the Barnwell Bar and officers ot the Court— Be It Resolved, that the county has been greatly assisted by this Court in the disposition of the many cases tried and diapoaed of. Further Resolved, that Bar and the officers of the Court feel deeply grateful to the Honorable W. B. Gruber for the conduct of the same, and hereby bear willing testimony to the fact that at no time in the experience of the Bar has a Court been conducted with more pleasure to the Bar and with more ability, graciousness of manner and judicial bearing than evidenced by His Honor Judge W. B. Gruber. Further Resolved, that the Bar and officers of the Court extend to His Honor this profound wish and hope that he be spared for many years to adorn his profession and to meet with his brethren of the Bar in fraternal fellowship. Resolved Further, that these Resolutions be spread upon the minutes of the Court, and a copy suitably engrossed be forwarded to His Honor Judge Gruber,and the same published in the newspapers. R. C. FESTIVAL AT ADAMS RUN- Adams Run, Nov. 5,—Special: The festival held at Adams Run school house by the ladies of Osborn church proved quite a success both financi ally and socially, and we have real ized quite a neat little sum for church repairs. Despite the cool night, the ice cream taWe did a thriving business. Miss Mainie Martin served the cream with her usual grace and ease, ably assisted by the popular Mr. Avant. The lemonade table was presided over by our genial friend. Mr. Lawrence Messervey. who had for his fair assistant, Miss Barrett, our efficient assistant teacher, who soon roved to us that she could serve emonade as well as “teach the young idea how to teach.’’ Mesdames Messervey and Finch seemed very much at home at their table laden with sandwiches and a va riety of cakes and were ready to serve us with cocoa and coffee, strong and hot to warm us up after indulg ing in frozen things. Miss Mamie Pla t ^t made a charm ing dower-girl, and soon had the lapels of the gentlemen present dec orated with her wares. The “grab-hag,” carried around by Miss Lakie Martin and Kenneth Finch, proved a most popular feature and was soon emptied of its contents. Three cakes were sold by votes and Misses Gladys Mellard.
