EUTAWVILLE NEWS.
I am c.mfng again, but will
promise not t* tax your patience
with quite as long an article as last
Mrs M E W'olfe, who has been
visiting her daughter Mrs M F
Dukes, left Thursday for Charleston
where she will spend a few weeks,
before returning to her home at
Ruffin. We all fed lost without the
sunshine of her dear presence.
Miss Lottie Hall, who iaattending

tage of a few days holiday and is
spending them with Us.
Mr Otie Herndon of Sniders,
visited oir city this week.
Mr Sam Rnight, visited his
parents at Harieyville Sunday. He
seems to have an unusually happy
smile lately, and the reason is quite
plain as the home ia almost compelled
and we can almost imagine we hear
the echo of the wedding bells:
Quite a charming and unique
party was given at the home of Mrs
W P Winters last Wednesday, in
honor of Misses Bertha Baker and
Rena Wolf. The most comical fea
ture o the entertainment, was the
drawing contest; the prize being
awarded to Mr Clarence Singler
Later the crowd repaired to the
dining hall, where a sumptous sup
per consisting of several courses was
served. Everybody enjoyed it im
mensely.
Mr Thomas Black one of Colleton’s
brightest and most prosperous young
men, spent Friday night and Saturr
r, ay in town as tbe honored guest of
Miss Rena Wolfe. He seemed
charmed with our beautiful country
and especially Eutaw Springs, its
most attractive feature. We hope to
have him usit us again soon.

The meeting of the Walterboro
local Saturday afternoon at the
Court House was one of the best
held so far. There was a good at
tendance of members, and several
visiting brethren also took part in
meeting, the feature of which was
the initation of seven applicants. A
number cf new applications \vere
received and balloted on and will be
initiated at the next meeting.
This local used thP first time
the paraphanalia ordered sometime'
ago, thus making tbe initiatory
ceremony more impressive. The
debate to have been held at this
time had to be postponed on account
of lack of time. The speakers were
present, however, and “loaded,”
This will be a feature of the next
meeting to be held Saturday,
20. at 3 o’clock, which is an
earlier than the
visit’ng brothers
cordial welcome.
1 am pround to know that Colleton
county has some who has gone to
the root of things. They have
started in the right way to make a
record tor him or herself long after
they have been forgotten. I would
like to belong to one of these Liter
ary Societies ' olleton boasts of so
much, hut I get my share all the
same. I goto a Literary Society
every Saturday night and think it is
one of the best meetings for young
men as well as ladies knows. It not
only teaches you how to speak, but
increases our knowledge in many
ways. I am a member of the Poly-
tecnic Literay Society. This Society
has turned out several good and
prosperous men and in later years
they have indeed all the training
jjov' thev received in this society,

usual time. All cess ^is year and everybody seemed
will be given a to en jQ v themselves. There was
quite a large crowd gathered around
the Colonial Lake Friday night to
witness the pyrotechnic display.
This show was one of the best fea
tures of the week, and proved to be
quite an enjoyable affair,
W e were very glad to see quite a
number of Colleton people down*
Among the crowd was E. L. Fish-

A woman should not have a bad back.
And she wouldn’t if the kidneys were

Doan's Kidney Pills make well Kid

Here is a Walterboro woman who en
dorses this claim:..
Mrs Thomas Groves, Cotton Mill Dis

several months I suffered almost con
stantly from doll backache, accom
panied by pains throngh my loins. I
was hardly able to get around to do my
work and at times had to lie down. I
could not rest well and felt tired and
listless in the morning. Doan’s Kidney
Pills, which were procured at the Wal

strengthened my kidneys and greatly
improved my health."
