One of our subsribeni aent u* a few days ago a registered letter con taining a five dollar bill, with the following letter, which was very much appreciated: “Enclosed I send you five dollars, which please place to my credit for Tne Press and Stand ard. The young folk of the town who will attend the dillerent col leges in the State this year are as follows: Woflord College; Charleswortb Glover, left for Spartanburg last week. Forman Pniversity: George Price, who left Monday after noon. Porter’s Military Academy: Henry Glover, and Erneet Hob- •ter. Both left Tuesday after noon. booth Carolina University: James DeTreville and J C voa- Lebe. Left Tueeday morning. Citadel: Israel Kohn and Ver non Padgett. They will leave next Tuesday- College for women: Misses Gladys Wichman, Ethel Gruber, Katharine HoweP and Kay Jones. All will leave Thursday. Oolnmbia College: Miee Eunice Glove. Will leave the latter part of this week. Confederate Home in Charles ton : Miss Florence Biack. Will leave in a few days. Wintbrop College: Misses Sarah Kohn, Marian and Edith Fraser, Essie Hyrne, Ulmer Fish burne, and Vivienne Price. Miss Price is a new student. All will leave next Tuesday. IN HE NIGHT POLICEMAN. We understand that the night po liceman, who for several months has been on duty during the night mak ing regular rounds and txung con stantly on the look-oiif for’ night- prowlers and tires, has been removed. This officer we consider wa* one of the most important municipal offi cials, and we regret to learn that this office has Ken abolished, trust Council will shortly reinstate this official in order that our proper ty may l>e in a measure protected while we sleep.
