It is now time to begin build.ng roads for future generations. Money spent as it has been for many years in Colleton leaves little tor the expenditure. ~The amount paid out each year for nothing would pay thq interest on a bonded debt that would give us highways, and in crease our property valuation many times. What does Dr Kirby thins of the bond issue? Dr Kirby says: How's this for a succinct working formula in making good highways? 1. Drain 2. Grade. 3. W M U MISSIONARY CAMPAIGN White Hall, Aug. 24.—Special: There will be a series of Missionary Rallies held at seven of the Baptist churches of the 2nd division of Col leton Association, beginning Septem ber 14 and ending September 20. Mrs Wm. Haynoworth, vice presi dent of Southern Division will be present at all these meetings, and besides making an address at each one she will give practical sugges tions for Mission Societies and Son- baam Bands. IffsW. J. Hatcher. State Band Superintendent, will be present at the meeting at Black Creek and if pomible, will Attend some of the other meetings. It is quite a privi lege, to have some of our State of ficers with us and hope that as many as possible will avail them selves of this opportunity of hear ing them. In planning this campaign we ar ranged it so that the members of every church in this division of the Association could attend at least one of these meetings. We earnestly desire the co-opera tion of the pastors and hope they will attend as many of these meet ings as possible, especially the ones held at their own churches. The first bale of cotton was being ginned on their gin for the season; the brush stopped revolving and Mr. Summer- all reached his hand under to adjust it. when it was caught and the index and middle fingers on his right hand were so badly mashed that it was necessary to have them removed. Dr. Stokes dressed the hand,* and hopes to save the Ahird finger which is badly mashed, Mr. Summerall’s many friends regret very much the painful accident and the loss of his fingers. There were several bales of cotton ginned Friday at the ginnery of the Colleton Merc, and Mfg. Co. at Rit ter.
