Lod^e, Aug. 6.— I he pro
tracted meeting at Carter’s
Ford, which began on Satur
day before the first Sunday in
this month, dosed on Friday
the 6th, after a series of meet
ings which will long be
membered.
Rev R A Sublet assisted
Rev Martin during this meet-

ing, and he has been the
means of converting several
and uniting some with the
church. Mr Sublet leaves
Saturday p. m. for McCor
mick, where he goes to hold a
meeting, and where we hope
lor him much success. He is
going a great work wherever
he goes.
Aerbert L Bishop and sister.
M iss Ida, of Round, attended
the meeting at Carter’s Ford
from Saturday until Monday.
Henry Bishop and sister,
Miss Della, of Smoaks, spent
Tuesday night at the home of
R R Bennett
Billie and Leland Hiers at
tended preaching at Little
Swamp Sudday night.
Miss Pauline Carter, one of
Vamville’s most charming
young ladies, was a visitor in
our section a few days last
week.
Miss Mittie ^Fender has
been on a visit to relatives
and friends near Ehrhardt.
We are sorry to hear of the
illness of C C Caldwell, but
hope for him a speedy re
covery
Mrs J M Walker and child
ren of St. Matthews, accom
panied by little Miss Nora
Walker, are spending the
summer with relatives in this
section.
The farmers have begun
pulling fodder, and they are
having to hustle too, in order
to accomplish something be
tween the showers.
Let every one remember
the 17th of this month and
vote the right way, for the
opportunity may never come
again, and when it does it may
be too late, and then some
may look back and see their
mistake. ^

home at 'JO.'i South Broadway, Fort
Scott, Kansas, Wednesday morning,
.July Ulit, at the age of one
re _ l year, ten mot^hi and fifteen day*.
Little Thelma was one of thoae
children of admirable and alfection-
a*e dupoaitionsi To this home
she was a little antfel of light, im
printing the kiis of love upon the
waiting cheeks of the father ami
mother, whose livei were serenely
happy with her in their arms.
Thelma seemid possessed with
musical ability seldom apprehended
at such a young age The pianoforte
seemed to her little fingera not a
strange pathway, and ihe could ren
der music which would be creditable
to a child oi years her senior. On
the last day of her short pilgrimage
it was noticed that the was not in her
usual good health, but she did net
seem much sick, and about four
o’clock in the afternoon she suddenly
became unconscious, and went into
convulsions, remaining in that state
until about two o’cloek the next
morning, when the Heavenly Father
tenderly lifted herout of her suffering
and took her home to be with Him
there to await the coming of her
loved ones left behind, and beckon os
to a higher and nobler world on high.
Little Thelma was a dear sweet
child, so loving and affectionate. The
last days of her .life the seem
brighter and sweeter than ever before
She sang and played almost inces
santly the day before she died. Just
before the dinner hoar she was held
to the telephone, by her mother, and
prattled to her father in another part
of the oity, and kissed him over the
phone.
Little Thelma was one of the three
children that have come to blew this
home, all of which have been called
from Earth to Heaven; leaviog the
home childlew.
The pastor, Rev Harley Marrott,
of the First Baptist Church, conduct
ed the funeral at the home at 1<>
o'clock Thursday morning, and she
was sweetly laid to rest in Evergreen
Cemetery.
