Two of our members initiated were from the Rum Gully sec tion, who drove eighteen miles to join a local. A local can be organized there, Mr County Organizer. Misses Eva and Athalie Chap lin spent several days with their sister, Mrs E H Chinnia Mr and Mrs Rowell visited Charleston last week. Mies Florence Haines has re turned to her home at Oakley, after a pleasant visit to her aunt, Mrs Breaker. Quite a number of the folk here went to Parker’s Ferry last Thursday to attend a fish fry, and they had a grand time. Boating was the order of the day. Mrs C H Beach visited Wal terboro on Thursday last. Mrs H Tuten has been visiting her sister, Mrs W A Gilmore. Qld Maid. NIGHT RIDERS IN COLLETON. We are sorry to note the death of Miss Martha Avant, and aged lady who has been making her home at Jim Richardson’s for several years. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved ones. A H Simmons and daughter of Bamberg spent seyeial days this week with his son, T J Simmons. Mrs R E Jones of Walterboro spent last week at Lodge with hei daughters, Mrs W W Cone and Mn P M Johns. Malcom Wood has broken the record killing alligators and rat tle snakes.' He killed nine alligators in one day. all large ones; one rattle snake measuring six feet and several others, some larger than the former and some ■mailer, bat he did not kill all the snakes in one day. T J Simmons has tome very fine cotton, which will make from one and a half to two bales por acre, it is lapping in five five foot row s and is as high as your head. F N Jones has the champitu corn. Lie expects a. yield of fifty bushels per acio. Joe Jones also has some equally as good. P M Johns visited Ashton yesterday. He reports crops in his section good. We are sorry to note the ill ness of Mrs T B Corbett, bat hope she will soon be oat again. The negroes are having quite a religious meeting at Friendship.
