Somehow, we cannot help feeling
a little sad over the fact that "BiUy"

and gone to the State, a* it remove*
him farther from us.
Two weeks ago when we remarked
that we hod not yet received those
delicious May peaches, we did not
beKeve they would be June pmrhrs
before we ate them. Here’s hop
ing they may not be July peaches.
We’ve had plums one time, though.
Speaking about the minister in
Columbia who was enraged at the
•presence of a dog in church, -we
would meekly remark that there are
some persons in Walterboro who
think so much of their dogs they
cannot leave them to go to church
and they are ashamed to go with
them. 1
Judge Harry A. Peeples of Tampa
Fla., has an interesting letter in this
issue. Judge Peeples is one of Col
leton's sons making good in “The

turn to the days of “Auld Lang
Syne and he wishes to hear from
some* of his boyhood companions.
We shall cheerfully give space for
any communications of this nature.
unexcelled natural resources than a
well conducted counTy fair. This,
however, seems to l>e the unanimous
opinion, and th.^re is no doubt in
the mind of the public that a fair
will be held. We are glad of this.
What we w ish to do here is to
emphasize the very great impor
tance of prompt and material assist
ance to those in charge of the or
ganization. The county farmers'
union appointed seven members to
have in charge the matter of secur
ing a charter and getting up the
capital stock. This does not mean
that the fair is to be limited to mem
bers of the union, but the object is
to have what it* name indicates—a
COUNTY Fair. This was made
plain by Sec. Love and other gentle
men at the public meeting Saturday,
and so accepted by many not in the
union.
Now in order to get this county
fair it ia necenary that at least a
majority of the capital stock of
$5,000 be subscribed, and that at
once. There should be no trouble
in getting this amount. There are
few persons who cannot take at
least one share of this stock, and
we trust every one who can take
some stock will so notify the com
mittee at once, and thus hasten the
matter of organizing. Show your
faith by your works.

Apropos of school dosing and the
