Veins Beard, who has been
visiting relatives and friends in
this section, left last week for
Augusta, where he goes to school.

through our section last week

home of the bride’s parents, Mr
and Mrs W E Carter, Miss Jessie
Oerter was happily married to
J R Baker of Scorefield, 8jO.
Owing to the sorions illness of
the bride’s father, there was a
very few present to witness the
ceremony. Mr Baker returned
to Scorefield next morning where
his bride joined him later.

we have just started for there is

THE BUSINESS OF SELLING.
It is not the purpose of the Far
mers’ Union to supplant or take the
place of any other organization of
fanners that have been formed for
special objects, such as the fruit and
vegetable associations. On the other
hand, it desires to help these organ
izations in every way possible. They
are working along the same lines
and for the same purposes. A mem
ber of the Farmers’ Union who
makes fruit a specialty ought to be
a member of a fruit growers’ and
shippers’ association. The object < f
both is to sell in the highest and best
market—direct to the consumer, if
possible. The same can be said of
the man who raises vegetables for
the market. Men are bound to
gether by ties of common interest
and they should co-operate with
each other in both buying and sell
ing. Special interests are repre
sented by different associations, but
they are all working along the lines
laid down by the Union. Associa
tions are a part of the great move
ment that is leading on to* better
conditions for the fanner; the union
covers the whole ground.-Home and

MRS JOHN REMLEY DEAD.
Mrs John Remlcy died at Ma-
•hawville Thursday Apr. 29, and
was laid to rest beside her bus
band who preceded her four
years ago. Mrs Remley nas 03
years, 4 months and 22 days, old
having been bom Oct. 8,1816.
She was interred at Sandy Dam
cemetery, Friday at 10 o’clock,
in the presence of * large num
ber of relatives and friends. Rev
G 1* Penny conducted the funer
al services.
