gentleman not to waste their ener

step aside to make room for a man

THAT SNIDERS ELECTION.
News comes to us that Sniders
school district on the sixth day of
April at a public election held in
said school district between the
hours of eight in the forenoon and
four in the afternoon did wilfully
rfnd diliberately by a vote of 9 to 7
refuse to vote the special levy of
three mills asked f nr school purposes.
It is bard to comprehend that a
school district having the honor of
containing the only school in Colleton
county to win a prize of $50. for
improvement should so far forget
itself as to vote down a proposition
tending to still further improve edu
cational interests therein. There
would have been. more excuse for
any other district in the county to
defeat such a move, for no
district needs a special levy more
than Sniders. This district is now
a year behind in funds, and without
some other aid than comes from the
regular source it will be impossible
for the school to be taught a day
next session. We believe every
claim for this session is held by the
bank, discounted at eight per cent

in the county that could have voted
a special levy without trouble that
district was Sniders. Perhaps those
favoring the levy were too confident
