K. Crot*by, also in part wit! Mr. Towles and D. ('. Sanders, in reference to the chain gang bping self sustaining, 1 think it would pay if it was properly managed. Referring to the number of days or dollars, 1 think it would be equal for a man to work ten honrs on the road or pay one dollar. 1 also think a good road law would be to work four days or pay $4.00, or six days or pay $6.00. It is worth h dollar per day for a man to work on the road, and a man jon can get for 60 cents a day is not worth hiring. 1 agree with Mr. Towles in dividing the county into three road districts and have three supervisors, but! think it would be well for D. O. Sanders, Robertson and G. W. Way to call a meeting at some early date, to be held at the court house and request everybody to meet and advise a road law that wiU give satisfaction. I also think for the present conditions of .oor roads it would be well to make a levy on all having stock, hones or mules, aud impose a commutation tax of $4.00 or four days work; appoint an overseer to sack five miles of roed, and each man who prefers working, let him work ten boors for a day. When we get our roads in good condition, then we can make a change to suit our. conditions. 1 hope each man will interest himself in thetoad question, un til we get better roads, for there are some roads in this section that have not been worked in several years, until Mr. Jones came through here this last sum mer and did a little.
