As results of elections held yester
day at Laurens and Cheater the
Dispensary was voted oat in these
two counties.

J W CROSBY WINS PRIZL
Ruffin Nov. 3rd:—Editor Press and
Standard.—As I have not seen any
thing from our town is quite a
while I thought I would write a few
lines, and if this should miss the
waste waste basket, perhaps I will
ccme again.
Our town is always on .a boom.
Some one is always doing romething
to boost our town, and if it keeps on,
it will be the leading town in the
county. It is already up with some
towns that are touch older.
The are several new buildings
going up and nearing completkn
now.
Among them may be mentioned
B. B. Crosby, Jr., and W. W. Carter,
and others.
We also have a lot of news all the
time, in fact we could furnish enough

so we have to depend on hear say.
to get our local news, and subscribe
for yours, and other papers, to get
the foreign news.
One of the most stirring incidents
which has been called of in our town
for quite a while, was the visit of a
blind show man. He had offered to
award to the laziest man a cake of
aoap, and there were several contes-
anta but J. W. Crosby obtained the
most votes and so was presented
with the soap.
Another prize, con isting of a
silver cap was to be given to the
prttiest girl present, and this
more popular, as you know we nave
more pretty giria in our town, than
we have lazy men. Miss Maud Pad
gett was the successful contestant
for the cop.
So we are aftways having some
thing interesting in and around,
oar town.
Sugar boiling will soon begin and
you moat come to them.
