Oscar Speights who has been out in Tennessee for several months returned home last week. His many friends and relatives gave him a warm welcome. We are glad to hare onr old teacher, Mr Hiers, again with us. and we predict a successful term. Nearly $1000 has been raised for a sew Methodist church at Smoaks. Work will soon begin and we hope it will soon be completed. Miss Mamie Hiers who has been reported ijnite ill is reported a little better. Max O Hirsch, the popular salesman for the Cable Company of Charleston, baa been in onr midst several days making sales of pianos. Berry Herndon of Sniders paid Smoaks a flying visit on the Itith inst. Mrs A C Hiers after a severe ill- ness is able to be out again. On every side we hear people com menting on the improvement of The Press and Standard, and we feel that its praise is well merited. A quiet weding took place at the residence of Mrs- Kosianna Kierchheiner, 101) Duval steet last night at at 7 o'clock. The contracting parties were were Mrs. Kosianna Kierchliei- ner and Mr. Edward D. Loper Judge Bethel officiating, using the Episcopal ceremony. After the ceremony, refresh ments were served, and the usual Calitbumpian was indulged in, as one of th-tf contracting parties had visited Hymen’s altar before. The groom was foimerly from Savannah, Ga., bat came to Key West about two years ago in the capacity of foreman of the Key West Electric Car Company.— Pahtka (Fla) Times and Herald. : Mr. Loper will be remembered (leaeantly by his many friends in Walter boro, he having tormerly been a resident. Miss Maude McTeer and Eugene Drew were married on Wednesday night last at 9 o’clock. Rev. Tay lor performed the ceremony only a few relatives and friends were pres ent as it was quite a surprise to Hendersonville. They will leave m a few days for Sandford Fla. where Mr, Drew has been working for the past year. Sunday morning at fobr o’clock, the infant daughter of Mi. and Mrs. Henry Hiers died after a week’s illness. Little Lillian was three months old and ivas a bright baby. Beach and son George; who have been spend ing sometime around here returned to their home Thurs day in Savannah. Ga.. Miss Addie Linder i and Master Ramon Yarley were in tow*n Thursday. Miss Daisy Li ider of Pleas ant GrOve, paid Mr. L. M. Prine’s a dying visit last Tues day. Mrs Bada Linder is spend ing this week at Mrs Abbie Linder’s. L. M. Luther Linder who has been working at Badham came home Saturday, we are glad to welcome him back home again. Miss Minnie Carter of this lace is spending sometime at hrhardt Willie Saunders of Doctor’s Creek was here last Sunday there must be some attraction some where around here. Miss Eather Linder spent a lew days last week with Misses Audieand Marie Ritter of Ritter.
