Yesterday * afternoon at the hom^ of his daughter, Mrs J 6 Welch at Green loud Wath ington Sloman died after an illness of 24 hours. Mr Sloman was a resident of Mewville and had lived to a ripe old age. He was a brother of J H Sloman o Hendersonville, and was a gen tlemen of the old school, univer sally liked by all who knew him. Polk, ona of Islandton’s prosperous citizens, was iu town Monday hnd Tuesday of this week. Mr Polk reports every thing in his neighborhood in good condition. He attended services at Garter’s Ford Baptist church Sunday and heard an excellent- sermon bj Kev. The child was only a week old and was perfectly lealthy up to Fri day. Tt e interment was at Live Oak Cemetery Monday after noon, the funeral being con ducted by Rev J L Daniel. The friends of Mr and Mrs Glovet deeply sympathize with them.
