Ruffin, Sept. 28.—Editor Press and Standard. Complying with my promise I row submit my proposi tion lor the consideration ol your readers. I would suggest that there be one county supervisor, elected by the whole county, at a salary of ($1 500) fifteen hundred dollars a year. nd that there should be a town ship supervisor from each townsaip elected by the people of said town ship at a salary of one hundred and tweuty five ($125) a year. There are twelve townships in this County, and this wonld form a kind/d cabinent, compossed of the twelve township supervisors and the oouniy supervisor as president. Re store the old road law, with an op tion, of working six days or pay six dollars per year. There are but few men who are not willing to work one week in fifty two, for the betterment of oar roads, and a man who is not willing posses- bnt little of those qualities which go to make desireable citikenshijx Six dollars represents six days work, according to present valuation. Let each township supervisor have charge ot all public roads in his township, divide them into four mile sections, and appoint overseers, who shall keep a complete record of all the hands who are subject to road duty, and see that they do six days |work or pay six dollars each year. The county chain gang is now in camp at Cedar Springs, on the plan tation of Capt. W. A. Riley, near town. For the past eight weekathe gang has been at work on the road from Bamberg to the Little Salke- hatchie crossing at the plantation of J. F. Jones. This road has been clayed on both sides of the swamp, and is now one of the finest high ways in the county. It gives the people of the Ebrhardt section a good hard road to Bamberg, and the distance is shorter than by the old road. The gang is now at work on the Buford's Bridge and Govan roads, but will move to the Hunter’s Chap el road in a few days. Bamberg Herald. last en- BATH BUBBLES. A very sad death occured on the 7th inst when Rosa, the fifteen vear old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abram Me Albany passed away. Mr. and Mrs.McAlhany was former ly of Smoaks and were well known in that section. Miss Rosa’s death was not unexpected as she had been ill for about five months.
