We fail to see wherein the country
is arrayed against the town. Men
from the country come to town, buy
liquor from the dispensary, get
drunk, “cuss” a little and try to
fight. The policemen cause them to
be entertained free for one night
and when sober next morning the
mayor relieves them of $5. Now,
we submit that this is an exchange of
courtesies which does not argue any
lack of bonds between the town and
country. Moral: Buy groceries or
dry goods with your “boote" money
and yeu will feel kindlier to the
town—so will your wife and little
ones. Vice
WRITE-UPS.
It is our purpose to begin next
week a series of write-ups for the
buaineM houses in town. We shall
get cuts made from photographs of
the buildings, proprietors etc. and
use these to illustrate the write-up.
We shah probably write up one a
week till we have given a history of
every business house, mill and
factory in town, At the conclusion
of the aeries in town it is our pur
pose to use the cuts and write-ups
in several daily .papers securing one
or two pages, for that purpose. We
would, therfore, ask that the pro
prietors aid uS by preparing at once
short historical sketches of their
places ot business and if possible
have photographs taken. These
write-ups should prove most jnterest-
ing to our readers, and good adver-
tWng for the town's resources. The
will be the well known firm of
Tarry and Shaffar,
has been dune. Therefore, we con
tend that the main purpose of the
Act has been abundantly complied
with, even supposing there should
have been an omission (which we do
not admit) to file a statement.
