It would be a very easy mat ter for some one at each poll to make out a list of the votes received for State and county officers and forward to us either by tele phone. messerger or mail. If we could have heard from three polls last week the paper could have gone out a day earlier, and there was some one here from these polls, too, but they had just neglected to put the returns down. Then, too, we could not get more than half the returns for State officers. The daily papers -were depending on us for Hie returns 'for the vote, and the people all OVer the State were consequently disap pointed. Let us urge, then, again that every manager try to get us the re- tuna promptly Tuesday night if pomible. We are willing to pay any epens* to which they are put. Our office will be open to receive them as late as then is any use to remain open. So, please, send us vote for county and State. It has been rumored, that whiskey and money was used at some places in this county the day of the first primary for the purpose of influence ing votes. Whether or not such rumors are true, we cannot say, but we were told by the dispenser here that Friday before the election he sold nearly everything he had. We are not making any charges against anyone, but there are those in the county who know whether or not ^hey are true. We do not wish to beUqvesuch rumors true, for we like to think of Colleton’* voters m being men of honor who cast their totes as free men. Messers, Leland, Hiers and Willie Bishop, were visitors to J W Hiers Sunday afternoon. ^ Miss Lizzie Crosby, after a pleas ant vacation at home, has returned to Charleston. Quite a large crowd attended Sun day school at Carters Ford, Sunday last. In the absences of the superin tendent, J W Hiers. H A Cummings, the assistance very tenderly con ducted the meeting. Well Mr Editor 1 got a peep at the candidates at Lodge, the 13th and heard the majoity of them speak. We have sure a fine looking set, haven’t we Mr Editor.
