Bill Breland was the l.ouored i
fuest of Miss Fearl
sterns to have been disappointed,
or was scared rway before he
could search the body, because a
bsg of money was found on her
person.
This woman bore a good repu
tatiou and was a faithful worket
<m the farm of G C Parish for
the past six years.
The occurrence has, natura’ly,
worked this community up to a
high pitch, and had it not been
for the prompt act on of the
Magistrate in taking hold of the
matter, the sosp?ct would have
been vigourously dealth with,
and the colored people were die*
posed to take the lead. The
suspect, Israel Campbell, bears a
bad reputation and has been
tried and jailed before for a
similar murder, but was freed
for lack of evidence the evidence
now is, of course, circumstantial,
but it points strongly,* and the
community is determined that
theca»e shall be pushed to the
full. It it is also reported that
this man is wanted for several
othet charges, it is hoped that
the attorneys will l>e wise and
not undertake to release this
man on the u«tnl bond.
