This question seeks to put the discussiun of the subject on wrong grounds. Prohibition isn’t inten ds I ai a sumptuary law. The ol sect is not to abate a luxury, but to stop a fountain head of crime and abolish a meet prolific source of immorality, misery, want and death. •L 2 - Don’t you believe such a M- jxenerate opposition and stir j ujt strife? Most certainly that is what i? intended. We need to generate a most determined opposition and strife ajjainst this monster of iniquity. tj. 3 - Do you believe such acts to he righteous and in harmony with the gospel spirit? The spirit of the gospel is to alleviate suffering, dispel sorrow, prevent crime, reform the crimi nal, cast out the devil a-td destroy his works. Surely Prohibition intends to work along these same lines. g. 4 - Is it from your own de praved appetite for intoxicants you sue the people for deliver ance, or others? We know many habitual drunkards who do all in their power for prohib'tion, declaring they do this in self defense; others to aid friends out of the terrible quick sands of drunken ness. and yet others to rid socie ty of this menace to order, life and liberty. Q. 5 - Whom do yon seek to pro hibit, those employed in the sup posed leaser pursuits of life, or those in the higher walks of life? '' The law should know do such distinctions. Q. 6 - Do you believe the law will prohibit the Governor and all other exeowtiveff? Surely, if they need restraint why should theee officers be al lowed to sell intoxicants and all others prohibited?- Q. 7 • Is not yonr faith for pro hibition’s success pinned to the vociferous oaths of the <ask mas ter and the clanking chains of prohibition law? D- Breland gave a bee tree cutting and ioe cream festival. The music, rendered by Mica Nan Breland, waa flue andveujoyod by all present. Those present were M. W. Breland’a family, except himaelf, Jasper Herndon, titter and little brother, W. B. Saunders and brothers Eddie, Howard. Davy and titter, Lille, Mr. and Mrs. R. 8. Breland, Mitt Pearl Hern don, Mr. Dave Oroaby and fami ly and Mr. J. L. Benton. At half past seven o’clock we all parted and left for our hornet after an enjoyable affair. Meenrt. E. W. and J. A. Neeley Wilson and family have been visiting Mrs Jim Strickland, of the Little Swamp section. “Scribo. ” A Queer Animal. On he Fourth of July, Eugene Ackerman was plowing in his field at Cottageville. He ^noticed a rather strange looking animal oo*>- ing into the field near where he waa plowing. It did not seem affrighted^ bet came np near to him and from the description be gives, it must he a new member of tbe animal king dom. It is described by him as being: about the sise of a large dog, being shaped somewhat like a dog, hut with a very small head and sharp earn. Its track is like a deer track aad m running off it went away by leaps, somewhat like a kangaroo. In color it was a light brown, except its head and neck, which were black. It has a long tail, somewhat like an opossum’s tail. It stopped and observed Mr Ackerman at some length and would raise its head and. howl, or bray, most piteously. It is not known in tbe neighbor* hood whether this special yisitolion. was on account of the fact that Ms- Ackerman was plowing on the Fourth, of July, or whether it was a gentle reminder of that most dreaded of ail animals, with a cloven hoof. At any rate, Mr Ackerman feels that it is . necessary to have a companion when visiting this field.
