My wife Margaret Ann
Elizabeth Pierce was the eldest
daughter of the late Dr Geo
and Mary Francis Pierce of
Cottageviile, S. C., she
born on the 20th day of Feb’.
1858, and died on the 23rd day
of May 1008. We were happily
married on the 8th day of Nov
1870. God gave us tirteen child
ren three of which He has since
taken back. Our life together
has been one of great pleasure
and happiness, even though she
has been sick for years with
dropsy, which caused her death.
She was converted at Murray's
Church, now in Dorchester coun
ty, when about ten years old
during a revival v ^couducted by
old Bro. Duncan, then Pastor
in charge. From then to her
death, she has been trne to her
Lord, and ready to do all sh*
could for the church, and with
kind and tender lands ready to
do all she could for the needy. ' I
.have known her to give her last
cent to the needy many times.
She was a lady of great charac
ter, she would not tolderate sin
in any shape, but wou d condem n
it wherever seen by her. Her
loss is an irreparable one to cur
home and Community. Her
death was not unexpected to her
she has been telling me it was
coming, and it would be better
for her, as she suffered so much,
She was not confioed to bed at
all, but up and going around nn-
til tho last. She retired to bed
Saturday night at about 8. 15
o’clock, she complsined of feel
ing very weak, and in a few mo
ments the said 1 Bennie I am
dead” and withont a sigh she
went to sleep in Jesus.
Servant of God well done.
