Editor Press and Standard—
As I have never seen any n?ws
from Sniders in a long time, I
thought that 1 would write the
news.
Little Pearl and Ethel Brel
and and their aunt Dora Hern
don, spent last Thursday night
with their consm Mrs G J Yarn.
We were glad to have them, we
spent a few hours playing a few
games.
Last Friday night friends and
velaitvers spent a few hours at
Mrs W C Brant’s to bid Miss
Mstella Smoak good by, we all
hated to see her leave. I guess
their is a young man hated to see
her leave worst than we did. I
.guess yen can guess when you
read this. I won’t put nay name
if you can guess it will be all
Tight. I will give you a hint who
he ia, he has bale eyes, 1 won’t
say nay more about him. We
dialed for the school to close, we
wish Mias Estella could have
stayed longer with os and taught
the school till it was ont She is
in bad health, and she thought
that if she would quit teaching
that she wooll improve. She
will be editor of the Branch-
ville Journal. We hope that she
will succeed.
Being this is my first to write
oar county paper, I guess 1 had [
better ring off this time. I guess
the farmers are getting ready to
plant and the candidates are out,
and they won’t have time to read
my piece.
We are having spring early
this year. Will come again soon.

' Stock Law.
E litor Bress aqd Standard:—
As this is campaign year 1 guess
you are looking for candidates
cards. The citizens of this sec
tion seem very little interested in •
politics at present, but stock law
is the topic of the day.
We the citizens of this section
of Colleton county, find it impos
sible to make pastures (This we
have to door have no stock) and
keep up a fence around our farm
sufficient to keep out the little
stock that Jgo at large (and those
that are driven in from *he stock
law conotry)
We petitioned the legislature
to give ns stock law. The bill
passed in the house, but when it
reached the senate, the senator
for Oolleton Ootnty promieod to
support the stock law hill, but oh!
when he voted !
We the citisens of Oolleton
County melon the 18th of March
and knowing the condition of the
farm fence, deemed it unwise to
attemp to let stock go at large.
W e agreed on the the first day
of April 1908, every man should
close in his stock and if any stock
after that date, is caught at large,
it will be taken up under the
general stock law, and if the
owner of said stock fails to pay
for his property, we the members
of this club (and it is open for any
man of the county to join) will
staudj to the first membercf this
club who gets in a law suit, until
it is carried to the supreme court
