nature and every-day observation
than 1 am almost tempted to close my
eyes to apparent presumption and
venture a 6>mment on it.
Newspaper men, like all others
who serve the public are watched by
a great many more people than they
have in their mind’s eye at the time
of such service. '
It takes a great many people to
properly populate a world as big as
this, and if the world were twice as
big as it is and had twice aa many
people in It as it hat, there would
still be just as many opinions as there
are people.
I have thought a good deal, re
cently of that debatable question as
to whether or not children inherit
their character from their parents,
and I have reached the conclusion
that they do, and it is possible for
this to be a rule without an excep
tion. And the great diversity of
character, of disposition, of likes and
dislikes is the strongest evidence in
support of this position.
A boy take* all the bad traits of
his father and a second boy takes
those of his mother, a third takes all
the good traits or both, and an early
daughter take the good traits of
one and the bad of the other and
hence you have a family who have
inherited their several characters
from the same source and yet there
are no two of them alike, but rather
they are aa different from each oth?

Now just come with me over here
in the neighborhood of “Mount Ara
rat” and recall if you can the time
of that memorable cloud burst when
Noah had to bnild an ark to save his

Our neighbors held a meeting
at Bank School house last Satur
day for the purpose of moving
the obstrnctipn out of Red Bank
Canal, from the head of it near
J T Bailey*, Saw Mill to where
it fiowe into the Ediato River a
a distance of about four miles, a
committee was appointed to accept
contributions to pay for the work
and the contract, will be let to the
lowcet bidder to complete the job.
Every one that is interested ia this
