What is the use of our publishing »k after week, the really splendid articles on improving our roads ■o one makes use of them? He may be well versed in the newest theories of the university, or husimns school, but until hs sees thiss practically demonstrated, they are not a port of his working cap ital. It is bettor for the young man to deaoimtrate those theories while Ms employer’s capital than his own means by crude ideas of boMaeoa unguided by the man of nee. This working for others is the most important part of a man's education, for not < young man in a hundred is fitted to use his crude theories, without the modification that comes from rub bing up against man in business: But to quote: “Let us be fair. The man who is fair toward others, regardless of how othets act towards him, will win in the long run over all competi tion. And it is just as important to be fair toward one’s superiors and inferiors as toward one’s equals. When 1 make a bargain to work eight hours a day for $10 a Week, 1 do not expect to be paid $9.95, I would have small opinion of the man who would treat me that way. Now let me be fair. Has not my employer the same right to expect me to give him eight hours a day, and not seven hours and fifty-five minutes? The young man who is always com ing up to his employer's expectation of him, end accomplishes what he un dertakes will share in that employ er’s success, but the youiyr man who always disappoints, and never usi the best that is in him, will never succeed. We trust some of our readers will suhacribe to this little magazine, and let it help them in making young manhood in the highest type.
