Berlin, July 27.—A series of cold
blooded crimes, singularly resembling
the “Jaok-th«-Ripper’' murders, but
for the fact that instead of women,
the victims are little girls, followed
one another with regular rapidity on
Friday afternoon, almost ia the cen
ter of the city and aroused intense in
dignation aad* excitement.
Within a short space of time, the
aasaaain successfully enticed three girl
babies, the oldest only five years, in
to doorways of houaes and stabbed
them soreral times in the abdomen
with a sharp instrument.
As a result, one of the children is
dead, nnother is dyleg, and the third
is dangerously wounded.
The first knowledge that the crime*
had been committed came when an

body of Margaritha Prawitz, aged 4,

Expert Swimmer Drowns.
Bremen, Ga., July 27.*-Walter
Bell, the 20-ycgr-old son of Hugh B.
Bell, living six mile southeast of this
place was drowned Friday while
seining in Little Tallapoosa river,
near his fatherSs homo. Tin*re were
several in the party and every effort
possible was made to save the young
man. It seems that while seining
dow* the river that they suddenly
dropped into water ten. or twelve
foot deep, but he being an ttpert
swimmer, no one thought of bis
drowning, until bis father, who was
on the bank, noticed that ho was
drowning. _
