Mrs Benton will return to her home in s few days. Mr Leroy Polk bsppened to the accident of getting the top torn from his baggy last Sunday morning by a frightened horse* We are sorry to report the sad death of Bill Mills. On his return home from work he was feeling very bad and told his wife that be had a dreadful headache, and to do something for him, and before she could do anything be was struck speechless and fell in the yard. A physician was called but oould be done. Mr Mills lived only a short while. His remains were laid to rest in the Padgett Cemetery near this place. Valdosta, Ga., June 16.—Infor mation has reached here of a terrt- rible and possibly fata) accident which happened at the river bridge, a few mllea north of this city, at the Brook* county line. A gentleman who waa moving his family from Brooks county, earning hit household postetsions and family noth Dg on W *C° Q *> met on the bridge a heavy four-mule team belonging to the naval atorea firm of Morgan, Shore A Co. In trying to turn out for the heavy wagon to pass the animals became frightened^ and made a daah, throw ing the lighter wagon, on which the men, hia wife and little daughter were riding, over the banisters of the bridge and to the ground about 25 feet below. Articles of furniture In the wagon fell on the lady and little girl, the wagon on top of this, and the mule on top of the wagon. One of the little girl's thighs was broken, and her mother sustained very serious Injuries. How any of the party escaped with their lives la a miracle. C., June 15.—The southern students' conference, rep resenting the cotlego Young Men's Christian association of the southern states, held its opening ression Fri day at the Asheville Farm school. About 200 of the 350 delegates ex pected have already arrived. The sessions, which dll be held daily for ten days, will be in charge of Dr. William D. Weatherford, chairman of the international Young Men's Chris»- tian association committee on the southern field work. The opening session was devoted to outlining the work of the convention.
