That the lower portion of our State is not no pregremire as the upper portion is ex plainable only on the theory of climatic conditions. In our ooast region where water lies stagnant, moat, or all of the year, a natural condition is induced which stays snergy. We believe that this is dee to the surplus water that makes our marshes and swamps. I don't think it would be much harm to work Colleton's roads more than they are worked, or at least in this section. hThe Parkers Ferry road foreman did a** very nice piece of work from Parkers Ferry to the Pon Pon Railway. Sanders who has been a pros perous merchant for yean at Par- ken Ferry X Roads has recently sold out and expects to join hia brother at Georgetown. Mr. Sanden will be greatly missed by his many friends Mn. W. R. Fox visited her mother last week. Mn. T. A. Garvin re turned with her, she expects to spend aome time with her daughters. We now have in our town four new Reos, they look beaatiful when lighted and running to gether at nignt. Mias Edith Barnwell, who has been working for the Geraty firm, has come home to spend a few weeks with her parents, then she is oflf for the exposition. Mis Bessie Barnwell has returned home from Winthrop College. Dan Jenkins of Charleston been seen visiting F. Y. Legare. Mignonette. Mrs Hr Taylor and lb* boys left laat Friday lor Charleston, in July they expect to go to Hendersonville, N C, to spend tba balance of the summer. We are glad that he is able to resume hia duties; also to learn that bia little daughter, Lucille, whom he took to the Pasteur Insti tute in Atlanta, ia doing well. Mr Kopp left laat Friday for Co lumboa, Ohio. Ha will aoon join Mra Kopp in Williamaport, Pa. Mr McKenzie ia on a visit to Franklin, N C. Jt is a fact not to be controverted that the comparatively new millr, equiped with modern machinery thronghout and poaatssed t f the la test appliances, have every advantage over the old mills in the matter of earnings, a Superintendent of long experience stated to me while I was in Mempbia, Tenn. that daring the season that had joat closed, he tried to ran a mill which waa old and oat of data, belonging to one of the lar gest oompanies in the industry. He found that try as he wonld.tbe output out of proportion to the seed consu med, quantity and quality. Knowing that he did not give satisfaction to the owners, he resigned and took charge of a new mill that had the latest im proved machinery and had a most successful run.
