part of the field where they were
most abundant during the previous
year. In southern Texas the weevils

all winter. They hardly seem to hlber

of two weeks, Csptaln John A. Grant,
of this city, a prominent cltltea and
one of the foremost of southern en
gineers, died at nls home on Friday
morning. The deceased was 61 years
of age at the tltpe of hla death. He
was the constructor of many impor
tant public improvements and aided
tn building several railroads.
