J E MOORE,
« Co Sapr.
The mass matting called to meet at
the courthouse, yesterday was called to
order at noon by Bon J B Dodd. There
were about 100 repreaentetive citizens
present W C Brant was elected chair
man and mid the object of the meet-
ing wna to diacnas ways and means of
building the line fence, between the
exempted and stock law portions of the
county. W W Smoak, Jr, was then
elected secretary. Considerable dh-
cussion was hid. Among the speakers
were Hon J S Griffin, uapt H D Pad-
E ttt Hon A C t*an«iers. J O Jsqnea, 8r,
on J B Dodd, P W Warren, Hon D L
<*mith, J D Ackerman and G W Way.
These gentlemen all favored the build
ing of the fence in a oon»titntion«l
manner. It seemed to he a general
opinion, that the only method at all
feasible was that of lowing a general
tax. A committee consisting of W W
Pmoak, Jr, chairman, H D Padgett. J
D Aoketamu. E O Beach G W Way
snd W N Lanscy, was appointed to
draft resolotiong This committee ren
dered a majority and minority report
The majority report signed bv Messrs
H D PacUrett, E C Beach, G W Way
and W N Lariscy was adopted after
discussion, as follows:
Be it resolved by the mass meeting
eembled that our dslegation and
general assembly he instructed to raise
the funds necessary to bull 1 the line
fence bv proper legislation nnder the
constitution and we suggest a levy
made as all o her taxes are raised The
minority report left the matter entirely
in the hands of the delegation.
J D Ackerman then introdnoed, a
reaolntion, asking that our delegation
nse its inflnenos to secure the repeal of
the lein law. Considerable discussion
followed, hot owing to the lateness of
thehonr and the fact that many of
those in attendeuce had left the hsil,
Mr Ackerman wsthdrew ’he resolution
without calling for a vote.
