Bt George, September 21.—Kecaas*

whiskey,
from him, Daniel Byrd, t. aell known
farmer of the Grover section of this
county committed suicide at his home
night before last by swallowing the
contents of a bottle of morphine.

bottle of whiskey, and his wife, fear-
that be would become intoxicated,
concealed the whiskey from him. As
soon as he 1 learned that his whiskey
was missing, he (demanded it, and
a hen his wife refused to accede to
his request, he declared that if it was
not given to him immediately he
would end his life.* His declaration
was not taken seriously, however, but
severafhours later be was found in
an unconscious condition, with an
empty morphine bottle lying at bis
side. A physician was immediately
summoned, but he arrived too late,
as the orug bad already taken effect.
