j. D. Vara Discussea His Subject.^
Editor Frew and Standard: I will
now ventne to take up the subjects a.-
promised in The Press and Standard.
First Oc?an. When we come to
think of the waters of our iilohe
there being about three tim s as
much water as there is of land, ci-
Tided into five great divisions. With
the Atlantic to the east and the l a-
-cific to the west, the Arctic to the
north, the Anarctic to the south and
t
the Indian ocean to the south of the
equater on the opjjosite side of the
world from us. Ami considering the
the many uses and their mountains
and valleys, and great rapidity
brought about sometimes by ferocious
winds. Yet in time of calmness, we
can look upon them as a vast plain
of beauty, with the ships upon their
bosom, and think with stupendous
wonder and behold how beautiful
they are wrapped in their glory. So
we can compare this our Globe. Like
the ship out on the great ocean of
eternal space, that has no bounds
and when we look out into the
heavens and view the many other
ships lit up by night, it reminds
us of fhe wonderful glories of the
eternal - kingdom of our Heavenly J
Father the creator of all things.
Then we should remember that we
are the mariners of this gieat ship
ami that Jesus Christ is our captain.
We then should be verry careful how
we understand his commandments
and obey them lesc we be censured
with a greater fault than the com-
inom seaman.
Now as to electricity: It being
the second chief sourse of heat makes
it a beautiful study, too numerous to
mention. Electricity, like heat exists
in all matter, though in a latent state
until friction disturbs it and brings
it into active operation, and when
put into use it is so quick that noth* hea,, hy conditton. Thousand* have
testilied to It* superior excellence. It
Vethinks the spirit whispers, •*
> o man has found pure space, "
* er vacaum yet discovered,
V here nothing has a place.

New Light on Dairying.
In one of the model schools in our
town, a first grade teacher was having
a “lesson on the cow ” She was try
ing to impress on the young minds
the various uses of the milk. Butter,
cheese, etc., had b en disposed cf, ai d
she wanted some brigty genius to
tell how the farmer fed the surplus
milk to the pigs. Leading up to this,
she askecUthis question:
"Now children, after the farmer
has made all the butter and ch^ee
he needs, and uses what milk he
wants for his family, what does he do
with the milk that still remains?”
Dead silence followed for a moment,
and then one little hand waved fran
tically. The teacher smiled and said,
“Well, James ” .
“He pours it back in'o the cow!”
piped James—Woman’s Home Com-
pauion for September.
Ckamberlaiu’s Cough Remedy Acts
Nature’s Plan.
on
The most successful nwd'etnes are
those that aid nature. Chamberlain’s
Cough Remedy acts on this plan. Take
it when you have a cold and it will allay
the cough, relieve the lung*, aid ex
pectoration, open the secretions and aid
nature in restoring the system to a
jng can surpass it. Hence it is the
power to all things moveable. With
out it vre could not move hand or foot;
without it there would be nothing to
exist, because it is the second source
of heat and all bodies contain heat.
The coldest ice as well as the hottest
fire, but it is latent, (i. e. not percep
tible to our senses). For intsance
water is cold and sulphuric acid is
oold but if these two cold liquids be
united together they produce intense
heat. (This is known as chemical
action.) Therefore heat will pre
puce electricity, and electricity will
produce heat.' It is the power of
thought, it is the power of sight, and
it giyet.h forth light, by it our
thoughts are conveyed at a great dis
tant; by it we look, and see things
everywhere around us, hence thought
travels at great rapidity and also
sight. We cannot calculate its speed.
When we consider the reaction of its
n - '
power. For instant when we cast
qur eye upon an object it must reflect
npon the retina of the eye before we can
see it, and it is the same with thought
it must return to the office of the
mind before we can know it This
electric power is accumulated within
our bodies and is subject to the
control of the spirit within us. Alan
has sought out, and God hath re
belled many inventions for the use
and control of electricity, by it news
is made to travel whether good or
had, at great speed. By it light is
tuade, and its speed is calculated to
be nearly 200,000 miles a second,
^ev JFPrechersays the sun light
travels 186,000 miles a second
Henoe we may consider that by
electric power God the eternal Father
oondnets all this His vast creation
with never ending bounds in one
eternal perpetual motion. God the
creator of all things did invent and
bas given us light
Jf we oonld hie to Koleb
In the twinkling of an eye,
And continue onward
With that same need to fly.
D’ye think that we could ever.
Through nil eternity,
, Find out the generation,
When Gods begin to be?
see the grand beginning
ftmoe did not extend?
Or Tfew the last creation
