What say you, Col- ietint'fl Clamsouitof The following letter appeared in Ihe lAncaaUr News of Saturday: Mr Editor; I will try to tell you MMnetihng about Clemson college. Fkvt, there are some beautiful build- lags on the campus; gome fine flow- ssi, bat they are always where the pra&mors h?e and nowiiere else. Tha #01 place we visited was the dining hall, which seated about six hundred. TTrii eost twcnty-flye cents per meal, which was enough for what you got Mhit, we Went to the lecture room, which seated about the same as the AMog hall. Here we heard some gwt speaking from the professors and other distinguished orators. Then we wwt to the farms, pens and pastures. Wo found some cows, two mares, six hogs and two pigs. These teemed to be all they had, though they advised tw to raise stock and cattle. These wore al! that we could find. Then to foe ohiekea yards. Weil, there was not a feather of a chicken ia the ywds. JThey said they had gone oat of the chicken business, but they told ■a how to laise them at a protit. Tfcefc to ths experiment ground. They told ns how to save onr ground hf terracing it, but we found theirs all broken and badly washed—worse by for than oura ever get to be. Then wo next came to the flowem. Of eoaree they were all around the pro- feasors houses and no where else. Wfce* to the farms. They clalfn one H.miircu acres m one bottom L.. .* tke worst fix ofgmy corn wt txw be tween here and there. Talk about appropriations, two hundred and fifty thoasand dollars doesn't htrdly keep the yards of the professors in "ood fix, so the farms are neglected. Then we eame to Agricultural hall. Theyaw- hibited in one room of it some fruit* onions, etc., bnt T don't think they railed them, as I did not see when they came from. Then we went te where they bad beep making eoan butter. The Supt said it was for the professors. It was in cold storage and looked nice but scarce. Well, night came on, ao to the barracks. The manager told us they were deserted, but no, the? were not They were still there bnt very poor and for bneines'. Some of the boys they were so thin you could not mash them, bnt it seemed everything else had deeerted, for there was nothing bnt them and the cot in the room. Well, we killed some of them and ionght balaace until morning. Thaw we took another tour around to see the beauties round the professors', houses, for there were no attractions anywhere alee that we oould find. Some of our Lancaster friends, as* peciallv M* N B Small and Mr G L McManus, thought that the ap propriations ought to be devided be tween the professors and the farms, but that won’t do. If that were done the appropriations would havt to be twice as much, for they ia} there is not enough aupropriated ipw. I would like more of the Lancaster farmers to go anu see and hear then talk. They can toft*yon anything yet want to hear about farming, on any branch yon would like to follow or anything you want to raise in the way of crops, stock, cattle, hogs, poul try, frnit, vezeUbles or anything yo* can think of. If you go, be sure to ge to the professors* houses, tor th are the attractions. J T I lane* Antioch, S Lk ■■■■■■■■■■■■■nBMMMaHM-aavBVL'eMMaNHBaMaaMBBdfiBMnmmfoi .
