The Metropolitan Concert Club,

men of Walterboro, will be quite n treat

of music. Prof Deddrich, of New
York, is iD'tmctor, and we feel that in
the near lirure that the dob will be
mble to give concerts.
According to recent reports the
Tanners thronghont the county wil^
hardly make a half crop of cotton and
the corn crop is off at least one third,
tmnsed by the continued heavy rains.
We understand that in eome sections
that crops are damaged worn than in
other sections. If the seaaone had been

The Colleton Connty Telephone Com*
isuij has built s line to Getslnger.
The line has also been built to Hitter,
Hendersonville, and Oottageville. ▲

near future. This company has long
distance connection throughout the
United States. Two booths have been
installed, ore at the Walterboro Drug

The Heyward Riflemen will leave
Walterboro next Friday morning for
Chfckamaugt Park, Ga., where the

in camp for 10 days. Company “K”,

feel proud ci her soldiers, aa they have
spared no time in making Company “K”

The summer school for teachers, which
began July ifl^at Walterboro, is being
largely attended by teachers thronghont
the connty. But the attendance shonld
be much larger. Every teacher in
Oolleton County who expects to teach
school this fall, should by all nutans,
attend the summer school. The pur
pose of the county summer school, as

Carolina, That there shall be an elec
tion held in all those portions of Colle
ton County as are now exempted from
the operations of the General Stock
Law, to determine whether or not such
exemption shall continue; Such election
to be held at the legal precincts within
such territory on a day to be hereafter
designated by the County Supervisor of
mid Connty.
“Sec. S. At such election, those in
favor of oontinoing such exemption
shall deposit a ballot on which shall be
plainly printed or written, "Exemption
from Operation of the General Stock
Law—Yea," and those opposed to con
tinuing such exemption shall deposit a
ballot on which shall be plainly printed
or written, "Exemption from Operation
of the General Stock Law—No."
4 'Sec. S. That all details not hereinbe
fore provided for shall be carried ont
and observed as in general elections.
"Sec. 4. That if a majority of the votes
oast be found to be in favor of snob ex
emption, they shall continne to exist as
now provided by law: Provided, That
the residents of the sections named
shall within five months from date of
said election build and keep in good re
pair a fence along the line of the

ridered, and sufficiently strong and
close to protect the lands outside of
said territory from the Incursions of all
