Mr and Mrs W. W. Smoak, Jr., and

nesday. Mrs Smoak will remain on the
bland with the baby for several weeks.
Mrs Rebecca Price and grand son, B-
G Price, Jr., of Walterboro. are visit
ing the former’s son, Hon John Price,
in Orangeburg county.

terboro lost Thursday on his way from
Sevanuaii where be had been on busi
ness.
Miss Emily Bellinger, who has been
atteodiug a business college in Atlanta,
was called home yesterday evening to
the bedside of Mrs A. C. Shaffer, who is
quite ill at her home in \V aiterborr.
Miss Jennie McTeer will leave Thurs
day for Greenville, where she will spend
sometime before going to the moun
tains of North Carolina where she will
spend the summer.

Miss Maud Beach, of Charleston, is
spending a week with her mother, Airs
J. T. Beach. Miss Maud has mauy
friends here who are glad to see her at

Mrs J. L. Daniel and children Left
onr city Thursday for Waterloo, where
they will spend mest of the hummer.
On thsir way up they will stay several
days with friends in Summerville.
The friends of R. R. Black, of Florida, ^
are glad to see him in Walterboro this
week looking so well. Mr Black will
visit relativss in our town and in the
county before returning. •
Jacob Padgett, son of J. B. Padgstt,
of Gainesville, Fla., arrived in town a
few days ago. Hs is visiting his grand
father, Ohpt H. D. Padgett, and other
relatives in town.

day. .Mr Crosby reports the crops in
his section in a serious condition,

Miss Celia Woodham of Hartsville, is
visiting the family of Alnn Hanrey,
at Uetsinger. Miss Woodham will be
pleasantly remembered among her
many friends, as the popular teacher
who taught school at tliat place last 1
term.

who was convicted before Magistrate
Mellard and sentenced to 30 days on the

Sed Death of a Little Infant.
The many friends of Mr and Mrs
Henry Koger were pained to learn of
the death of their infant son, Glover,
which occurred at the home of Mr and
MrsJ.S. Glover in town, Thursday
afterncon at 8.90 o'clock.
The funeral services were conducted
by the Rev. L. F. Guerry at the house
Friday afternoon at 4 o’clock and the
interment was at Live Oak Cemetery.
We extend to the bereaved parents our
deepest sympathy in this sad hoar.
