Miss Lillian Kessler, who has been the
popular milliner for Mre W. A. Black,
for several seasons, left Monday after
noon for her home in Baltimore, where
she will spend the summer. .
Miss Bessie Mims, after an ezteoded
visit to relatives in Eutawville, returned
home Monday afternoon. Miss Mims’
many friends are delighted to see her at
home again after such a long absence.

session, returned to her home in Wal

The annual protracted meeting of the
Penial Baptite Church will commence
on Saturday ntere the second Sunday

J. M. Ackerman, of cur city, had a
mule killed by lightning one day lust
week on his farm a few miles from
Walterboro. H. E. Crosby, who has
charge of Mr Ackerman’s farm was
seriously shocked.
J. C. Hiott, of Round, who was ad
mitted to the bar abont one year ago,
has located in Walterboro, where he will
practice tow. Mr Hiott is a graduate
of the University of South Carolina and
is a young man of ability, we welcome
him to oup town.

Daath of firs John P. Morrall.
The many friends of Rev and Mrs
John F. Morrall, of Allendale, were
pained to learn of the death of the
latter which occurred at the home of
her son, A S Morrall, in Walterboro,
Monday night at 9.10 o’clock. Mrs
Morrall*! health had been failing her
for some little time and they came to
Walterboro abont a week ago, think
ing that the change here might bene
fit her, bnt she gradually grew worse
until the end came Monday night.
The remains were taken to Allen
dale on the early train Tuesday morn
ing where the interment took plaoe.
We extend to the bereaved family
our deeoeat sympathy in this sad
hour.

Miss Lillie Henderson closed her
class of music for the summer ( by
giving a delightful and successful
musicale for her pupils on last Wed
nesday evening at her home.
There were two prizes ottered: The
first prize being given for the one who
attained the greatest progress dnnng
the year. Miss Miriam 1 in Hois and
Miss Katherine DeTreville ran so
close together all the year that there
had to be a drawing contest, in which
Miss Katherine DeTreville was the
fortunate one.
The second prize was awarded to
Miss Anna Belle Crosby for attend
ance who had not missed one 'day
during the whole session.
Those who obtained a degree of
proficiency were: Misses Eunice
Glover and Florence Black. The
