The president has signed the railroad
rate bill. We hope this new law will
prove a benefit to the entire country,
Lot we have very serions doubts of any
legislation eradicating the evils aimed
at. It is an effort in the right direction
however, and we hope that good will
result.
County politics seem to be dragging.
There is very little interest manifested
in any office. The candidates are slow
about coming out, but it may be that
the people will take more interest in the
oampeign after they are through laying
by their crops.
The executive committee ought to
invite benator Tillman to speak in this
county. The people heard very
ordinary gpcernes from the state candi
dates. If we could get the timber here
for United Stntes Senate, with their
time unlimited, we mi^ht he.tr euine-
thiug worth listening to.

being cur from one-third to two-thirds.
The recent rain have injured all crcps
very seriously.

“Every Why
Has A Wherefore.”
o
“Every why has a wherefore.” Stores do
not succeed by chance or accident. When a store
yearly patronized by greater mrtnbers ot people;
when it continually grows*in the esteem and favor,
of the community in which it is located: when
people come miles and miles but of their v ay in
order to trade at that store, there must be stipng
reasons, and this is precisely the case
of the H. W. Cohen Store. The bigness and the
variety of the stock we carry; our up-to-dateness in
bringing to you the finest and newest styles; our
careful, painstaking, conscientious treatment of
all custome/s; and, above all, our policy of selling
on the very closest margins and at the very low
est prices, for spot cash- these are the factors
that are causing this business to continually grow
bigger and more popular.
Styles Are Perfect;
Values Are Irresistable.
ft ^ „
In Summer Clothing for Men and Boys
we offer a succession of the most perfect “styles
and most irresistable values ever seen in Walter-
boro. We show Mens Suits and Boys Suits in
every’ correct cut and color of the season the
brightest, freshest, newest sort of apparel.
At whatever price you choose to pay we
can sell you a better-looking,, better-fitting and
better-marie-Suit than can be had for the same
price anywhere else in this section. The same
is true of separate Pants or seperate Unlined
Coats for hot weather, oi^f any other garments
we handle. j
We both buy and sell for cash. No one .
can underbuy us or undersell us. Any store that
gives credit must lecessarify ask much more than
our prices, in order to protect itself, i.
We can readily prove to you the absolute
supremacy of our values if you will come and look
through our stock provided, of course, you
are a fair judge of goods.
