The first symptoms of a cold are a dry, loud couch, a profuse watery discharge from the nose, and a thin, white coating on the tongue. When Chamberlain’s cough remedy is taken every hour on the first appearance of these symptoms, it coun teracts tbe effect of the cold and reston s the sy»tem to a healthy condition within a day or two. For sate by John M Klein Taka Draatic Action. New York, June 2.—The board of governors of the Building Trades Em- ployera’ association took drastic"!^ tion at a meeting Friday in the case of the carpenters and painters who are on a strike for alleged violation of the arbitration agreement. A lock out of 12,0o6 carpenters belonging to the Brotherhood of Carpenters was decided on to take place Tuesday next throughout Greater New York unless on Monday morning the carpenters who are on a strike' in Brooklyn against the decision of Justice Gaynoif are back at work. In the case of the peintera who are on a strike against the master painters and the interior decorators and cabinet mak ers’ associations of Manhattan, the board gave the organisation authority to man their contracts at once with any competent men who are willing to work. Would Restart-. Heidelberg Castle. Karlsrhue. Germany, June 2.—The governmet of Baden Saturday sent a message to the diet regarding the res toration of Heidelberg castle, partial- ly destroyed by Marshal Turenne when he laid waste the Palatinate. The message affirmed that the res- toraUon would be limited to the re building necessary to preserve the sculptnren and other remains of- ren aissance art and .that the first appro priation would be asked for in the next budget. Energetic protests have been made in recent years against the pro jects for the restoration of the Heidel berg castle by artists, authors, profes- sors and antiquaries on the ground that it would be a desecration of the historical and poetical sentiments of the old German castle, which was be gun in the thirteenth century.
